Captain
Jake has been fishing for as long as he could walk. Every weekend he was lucky enough to be able to throw a line in somewhere around Australia.

From chasing Snapper in the gulfs of South Australia to the mighty Giant Black Marlin out of Port Douglas, Jake has done it all.

After completing his apprenticeship as a Chef he soon wanted to explore Australia and found himself on Heron Island out of Gladstone. Working in the restaurants and on the boats he built up valuable experience.

He and his wife then moved to Lord Howe Island between Australia and New Zealand and this is where he decided to make the change from cooking to fishing full time. He sharpened his skills here chasing King Fish, Wahoo, Tuna and even Marlin before marking the move up North to Port Douglas. Jake has been running boats for many years now and also working the deck on game boats during the Heavy Tackle Season. As a deckhand he has competed in numerous heavy and light tackle competitions, winning a couple and coming runner up on numerous occasions. Jake had also been luckily enough to have fished in some very remote locations like Princess Charlotte Bay and the Gulf of Carpentaria chasing Barramundi on Lure and Fly.

His real passion is putting smiles on faces. It does not matter if it?s a 1000lb Marlin or a 20cm bream. The excitement customers get when they catch the first, or biggest fish is fantastic.

Reef Fishing
The reefs out of Tropical Port Douglas have some insane fishing to offer. From trolling for the tasty Spanish Mackeral to throwing surface lures for brutes like GT?s and Red Bass, the reef has it all. If bottom fishing is more your style, then you have come to the right place. Coral Trout, Red Emperor and Large Mouth Nannygai all inhabit the reefs around Port and are a very tasty treat.

From May through until September we also have our annual run of juvenile Black Marlin which are great fun on the light tackle. Providing the weather is kind to us we can offer full day packages chasing the little power houses which have really put on a spectacular show.
